The forthcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 Super series exclusivity document has surfaced online, disclosing multiple possible release windows for the new graphics cards. As prior leaks suggested, Nvidia will seemingly release three new RTX 40 Super cards shortly after hosting a presentation at the CES 2024 event.
One of the top manufacturers of graphics cards worldwide, Nvidia’s most recent model, the RTX 40 series, offers PC gamers a ton of features like hardware-accelerated ray tracing, DLSS 3.5, and Nvidia Reflex. Although there are still issues with the 12VHPWR connector of the RTX 4090, Nvidia’s mid-range RTX 4070 and 4080 cards use less board power overall, so there may be some opportunity for performance improvements.
Nvidia may not be finished developing the RTX 40 series just yet, according to rumors circulating in 2023. Upcoming Super variations are rumored to offer better performance at a comparable price range to its non-Super predecessors. Additionally, there have been leaks pointing to an announcement at CES 2023; the most recent leak revealed the new Super cards’ exact release dates.
Release Dates of Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 Super
Several release dates for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super, 4070 Ti Super, and 4080 Super graphics cards were disclosed in an embargo document that was leaked and obtained by Videocardz. First, it is stated that the graphics cards will be unveiled on January 8, 2024, at 9:00 AM PT, during Nvidia’s Special Address at CES 2024. The unboxing embargo for the RTX 4070 Super lifts that same day at 2:00 PM PT, and the 4070 Super’s review embargo lifts one week later on January 16 at 6:00 AM PT. The RTX 4070 Super is scheduled to arrive on January 17 at 6:00 AM PT, if the leak is accurate. The RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super are scheduled to ship on January 24 and January 31, respectively. Nevertheless, the new cards’ MSRP and AIB prices are unknown.
- January 8 at 9:00 AM PT – RTX 4070/4070 Ti/4080 Super reveal
- January 17 at 6:00 AM PT – RTX 4070 Super product launch
- January 24 at 6:00 AM PT – RTX 4070 Ti Super product launch
- January 31 at 6:00 AM PT – RTX 4080 Super product launch
The RTX 4070 Super and 4070 Ti Super cards are rumored to have characteristics that indicate an average performance increase of 14–15% over the RTX 4070 and 4070 Ti non-Super cards. In addition, the RTX 4080 Super will outperform the standard RTX 4080 by 3-5%. All of the new Super graphics cards—aside from the 16GB RTX 4070 Ti Super—will continue to use the same G6X video memory as their original counterparts.
An Alternative To RTX 4090
The imposition of restrictions by the US government on RTX 4090 shipping from China may have made the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 Super series cards a tempting alternative for individuals who were unable to acquire a high-end card at MSRP cost. Furthermore, the new portfolio, which includes the flagship AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, may have comparable pricing when compared to AMD’s product stack.
Retailers clearing out stock to make room for the newer Super cards should result in a price reduction for Nvidia’s RTX 4070 cards. The RTX 40 Super series is anticipated to come with slightly higher or comparable pricing to the original RTX 40 series cards, even though the new cards’ prices have not yet been confirmed.
